An investment in Girl Scouts is a commitment to a generation.
The family of the late Lois Homan, past president of the Girl Scouts of the Becky Thatcher Area, have honored her memory and her dedication to Girl Scouting with a donation to purchase the TechBridge program for Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. Homan, who was 95 years old when she died, was a strong advocate of issues for girls & women. She was involved in Girl Scouting for more than twenty years, serving in many roles—from troop leader to council president.
Like many families, several generations of Homans participated in Girl Scouting. Her daughter, Anne, was a Girl Scout in Shelbina, MO; her granddaughter-in-law, Nichole,
was a Girl Scout in Troy, MO; her twin granddaughters, Dorie and Natalie, were Girls Scouts in Kirksville, MO; granddaughter, Jill, was a Girl Scout in Vero Beach, FL; and her great granddaughter Maia was a Brownie in Bethalto, IL. Her son, Bill, was Treasurer of the Becky Thatcher Area Girl Scout Council.
The mission of Techbridge is to encourage girls in technology, science and engineering. Techbridge offers hands-on projects, career exploration opportunities, and academic and career guidance. The Techbridge program will be available to troop leaders through the Emerson Resource Center.
